Sari-sari Stories (sari-sari is a Filipino term for “variety”) is a collection of childhood stories from Filipinos around the world. This blog serves as a space for them to look back on how it was like growing up as a Filipino child and acts as a resource of Philippine folklore which is lacking an online presence at the moment.
They represent a collective memory of Filipino children from a generation where kids, despite the presence of Japanese computer games and cartoons from the West, still made their own toys, played on the streets, listened to tales and chanted songs known by everyone by heart.
This blog coexists with the website, sarisaristories.com that aims to engage other people from different backgrounds, including teachers and school-aged students interested to know more about the similarities and differences of cultures through folksongs, folktales, street games, rhymes, sayings and personal experiences.
